You will be directly reporting to the Asset Manager and functionally to the VP Exploration Asia Pacific. Your main responsibilities will include managing the Team dedicated to Sabah Exploration and you will be responsible for its exploration program (existing and new acreage).

In addition, you will be the Discipline lead for exploration in Malaysia and an active member of the Regional Exploration Leadership Team.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Planning and managing the Sabah exploration programme in existing and new licenses
• Managing the commitment exploration drilling programme in SB309/310
• Leading the Sabah Exploration team and act as discipline lead and principal representative for exploration geoscience in Malaysia in accordance with Talisman values and practices
• Identifying opportunities to grow the exploration business in Sabah
• Managing the exploration prospects and leads inventory in Malaysia and contribute to regional exploration and geoscience programmes.
• Mentoring and developing junior exploration staff.
• Representing Malaysia as part of the regional exploration leadership team.
• Supporting regional and corporate knowledge management and skills transfer.

Profile:

You have a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology or geophysics and a minimum of 15 years of post-degree geoscience experience.

Your experience includes clastic plays in deep and shallow water settings in structural and stratigraphic provinces with a significant bias towards exploration required.

You are proficient in risk and resource estimation in multi-component prospects.

You have ideally had exposure to a wide range of plays and basin settings and have experience working on Malaysian or other SE Asian basins.

You have a demonstrable track record of maturing exploration leads and prospects into discoveries.

Experience dealing with National regulatory bodies required.

Previous leadership experience at team or project lead or exploration manager level required.

The role requires a demonstrated leadership capacity in a technical role, experience working with multi-cultural teams, pragmatic results-oriented and fit-for-purpose approach, capacity and commitment to staff development and mentoring, strong team play.
